  Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Teachers at Aaron Academy engage students in learning through the UDL framework.   This way of thinking about teaching, when combined with the Common Core and College Readiness standards that define our curriculum, assures access to high quality, challenging material for all students. The UDL framework  provides for instruction that offers:

  • Multiple means of representation- teachers understand that students need a variety of modalties to understand concepts and provide that through technology, arts, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Multiple means of action and expression- students are given opportunities to demostrate knowledge using traditional and non-traditional methods such as speaking, writing, acting, drawing, composing music, creating poems, debating, and creating artistic representations of their learning.
  • Multiple means of engagement - the teaching teams work to learn each students affinities and use those interests to increase motivation.

Our strengths based philosophy is reflected in our facilities that offer opportunities for engaging students in a variety of activities: Academic Arts, Technological Arts, Social Arts, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Kinesthetic Arts and Creative Arts.
